Chronic Venous Disease, if left untreated, can lead to open wounds also known as venous ulcers. Venous Ulcers will appear after your skin turns red, flakes, or skin break down occurs. Treating these venous ulcers or wounds is a big part of our practice and we have the experience to treat them along with the underlying cause.
The first thing your doctor will do to help your ulcer heal is to extract dead tissue from your wound in a process that is called debridement. A vein surgery or procedure, such as the VNUS Closure® procedure, will be used to treat the underlying issue which caused the ulcer. This will help prevent future ulcers from developing.
